Schadenfreude

Am I a bad person? I am getting waaay too much enjoyment out of all the apple news today.

The people in Cupertino have been busy monkeys lately. So what were the updates today? iPhone/iTouch firmware update, 5 EFI firmware updates (for all the intel macs), as well as keynote, pages, numbers and iWeb updates. Pretty impressive. Someone at apple hates customer support. But the thing that has really been making my day fun is reading all the drama about the people who unlocked their phones to use with other carriers who are now trying to figure out what to do. There are posts all over the web and they all keep getting updated as more info comes in. One minute it turns your iPhone into an expensive brick, the next it doesn’t. Tons of FUD and chaos and no one knows what is really happening.

Oh the humanity!

THANK YOU! That made my day. I forgot about CARs. They are too funny, GFY for the apple crowd.

“You have Creed on here? Oh, you’re bricked, buddy.”

    Heh.

I still think my favorite of the comments on the real sites are people going back and forth about the definition of a brick, and someone at apple leaking the apple developer’s definition of a brick. Wait, they have a definition of brick? Sounds like they did this on purpose. :)

And a site giving you a easy graphic helping you figure out if you should upgrade or not. Awesome graphic if you are into that sort of thing.

It’s sad, but it does make me like my Treo more. Mmm, software.

Yeah, there are three programs that I use every day on my Treo that doesn’t exist on the palm.

I’m actually thinking about upgrading my Treo to the latest version just so I can keep using it after the treo disappears (as I am afraid it will after a year or two against the iPhone).

Here’s a nice history lesson and explanation for why people shouldn’t immediately assume malice on the part of Apple in the iPhone update debacle.
