More Spam
While we are on the topic of spam, I just shredded 26 documents. Each of them had the name of my lending institution and the amount of my mortgage on them. None of them were actually from my bank. They way the letters were formatted however they really wanted to appear to be from my bank. I have only had this house for one month. Apparently they want to sell me “mortgage insurance” in case, you know, “something” happens to me. I actually find the letters humorously threatening, if just because of volume. I assume these will taper off at some point?

I’ve never had mail like that in my 11 months of house owning, and certainly not 26 in a single month. I wonder what the difference is?
That said, each month my lending institution has another scam that it attempts to foist off on me.

Sorry… be prepared for the amount of snailmail spam you get to
skyrocket monstrously.

Alain - It has the feel of publicly accessible information being misappropriated. There must be some company that sits there looking for this type of information as it becomes available and then starts sending these things out. Possibly a new company?
My lending institution is Chase (my main bank as well) and they have actually been really good about not sending me a bunch of junk with my mortgage mail. Now my regular banking main on the other hand….
Erin - Yup, already seeing it. From welcome to the neighborhood coupons to donate for whatever, it is pretty crazy.

Khedron and I have been getting these mortgage insurance things as well. We’ve been ignoring them, every time they come in (which is very often).
I’m actually glad to hear that someone else is getting them too - they were starting to freak us out a bit.

Dude! We have gotten *so many* of these things it’s madness. They were so insistent that I started to doubt myself. “Maybe we really do need specialized mortgage insurance, which is somehow different from our regular life insurance, in case something happens to one of us…”
So many of them come from our actual lender, Ohio Savings. But there are plenty of others from various local companies. It’s an unbelievable torrent. And as you say, they all have our house value & address on ‘em.

That is interesting, I haven’t gotten a one from my lender yet. Although they all _appear_ to be from the lender which I find very annoying. But as reesei says, I’m glad to hear that someone else is getting them, it is a little freaky.
