Google Please

OK, all you google experts. I have almost finished putting the composition date on all my classical music. I have a couple of thoughts. First, it is shockingly hard to find the composition dates for some music. It is pretty much in Wikipedia or it doesn’t exist online. I have managed to google my way through most of it though. (And there are a bunch of russian composers in there from the late 1800’s. Issues Mike?) In any case, there is one guy who I just can’t for the life of me find a complete list for. That is Pachelbel. I have the cannon, the arrival of the queen of sheeba, and the concerto in g. Please find for me concerto grosso op. 6, concerto RV 253 “La Tempesta Di Mare”, and Ciacone – Chaconne.

Please show your work.

    I don’t understand what you mean…

Actually, I don’t. What’s wrong with the Russians? Tchaikovsky is great. Rimksy-Korsakov is less great, but “Scheherazade” rocks. (Okay, that particular version doesn’t rock sufficiently, but it was the one I found.)

Is it your goal to find this information, or to find it with Google? If I were serious about getting this information, I would go to a decent library and look it up.

If I had time, I would go to the Music Library at the UW-Madison, but I don’t think I’ll have time–sorry! But if you have enough trouble, ask me in a week and I’ll give it a shot.

Johann Pachelbel wrote a lot of Ciaconas — which one?

Concerto RV 253 “La Tempesta Di Mare” is Vivaldi.

Also, are you sure that the Concerto Grosso Op. 6 isn’t Corelli?

Mike – the music is great, it’s just a little lopsided.

Alain – a little of both, with more emphasis on what google search you did. I hate it when I can’t find something in google!

Erin – Ah, you found the key, improperly labeled MP3s! A quick look at the cd shows the error. That will help a LOT I would think.

Lesson: hard to find something on google when it doesn’t exist.

If it ain’t baroque, don’t fix it.

Also, when I submit a comment, and I get returned to the comment-submitted page,
if I click on the title link “House of the Rising Moonglum”, it tries to send me to
“Joshua Flachsbart’s Computer” and naturally fails miserably.
