Tangent: Part of me thinks that it is a great idea that Kerry and his supporters are working so hard to get out the vote. But then we started to get people come and try to get us to vote, and they have been a bit obnoxious. Someone came and tried to make sure that Annalisa will vote (yes, she promises to vote), then said that they will call her on Tuesday to make sure that she votes. Annalisa responds: “no, please don’t call. I promise to vote, but we have been getting four or five phone calls a day. I’m taking care of an active baby–can you please not call me?” But she wouldn’t promise not to call, unless Annalisa found someone at the poll and she checked in to say that she had voted. We appreciate people trying to get out the vote, but can’t they trust us a little bit?
Maybe we are just sensitive. Being in Wisconsin–considered a swing state–we get 4-6 pieces of mail each day and several phone calls each day. Enough already! Trust us when we say we will vote.
If we told people that we were voting for Earl Dodge from the Prohibition Party, would they have left us alone, or bothered us more?
Still, I’m glad people are working hard on Kerry’s behalf. It’s just a bit overwhelnming to the be subject of the efforts.
Well you won’t have to worry about it after tomorrow! I just got my first political ad on TV today actually. We get just nothing down here in Chicago. Not even for local races, the republicans are too embarrassed to run ads. The ones running for the water reclamation district didn’t even get the Trib’s endorsement for lack of trying. That is actually what the Trib said, lack of trying.
Still haven’t been able to find out about what that voter referendum is for. It is for funding alternative for prison for drug users, but where does that money come from? Sounds like a good idea but…
